About the Driscoll School of Irish Dance

Where we started...

The Driscoll School of Irish dance started in 2010 with two small classes and less than 10 dancers in the basement of Union Station, at what was then the Kansas City Irish Center.  It has since grown to over 80 students with classes most days of the week.  In 2013 we opened a studio in Shawnee, KS, and have been in Shawnee ever since.

We offer Irish dance lessons to anyone aged 3 through adult with classes for brand new beginners through Championship level at our Shawnee location.  We enjoy performing around the metro area at local schools, senior living, private events, festivals and parades.

Driscoll Irish Dancers participate in competitions, called a feis [fesh] throughout the year.  While some are local, students are often traveling across the U.S. to meet up with other dancers for competitions.  Our dancers compete at these smaller, local feis as well as regional and national championships.  In 2023, we had the pleasure of taking our first World Qualifier to the World Championships in Montreal, Canada.

The Driscoll School of Irish Dance is a member of An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) based out of Dublin Ireland as well as the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America (IDTANA) and the Irish Dance Teachers Association of Mid-America (IDTAMA).
